Care, Accountability, and Patient Safety Go Hand in Hand
“From the time you walk into the door to the time you leave, your job is safety,"
says Amanda Hayes of Mental Health Cooperative (MHC), an in-patient facility located in Nashville, Tennessee.
Amanda is the Director of Nursing at MHC, and she makes it clear that patient safety and well-being is at the top of her mind.
“Incorporating all safety measures and mechanisms really is good from my standpoint because it’s something I can keep a pulse on.”
Amanda has led the charge for the implementation of VisibleHand rounding tools at her facility, and the program has been a resounding success. Much of this can be attributed to Amanda’s commitment to combining VisibleHand’s data with effective employee management, training, and coaching. She also uses the VisibleHand Dashboard, which displays information about when safety checks have been completed, who completed the checks, and whether the staff members utilized bluetooth proximity.
“From a Dashboard standpoint, if I’m just really having a staff member that is not meeting the metric or the goal…I’m able to see it and then I’m able to follow up and coach and re-educate and re-train. To this day, if I have someone new that starts and I'm seeing that they're not doing a really good job of completing within proximity, I'm out there with them.”
Amanda’s strong supportive accountability has been one of the foundational components of the success of MHC’s implementation of VisibleHand. The combination of her effective understanding of the data that VisibleHand provides and the steady care she shows towards her staff go hand-in-hand with MHC’s high-quality environment of safety.
“You know, when I think about if I had a loved one, a family member that is going to any facility, just hearing that we have that type of system in place…that would be so important to me. Just hearing that, hey, we do 15 minute checks within 10 ft of your loved one and that's gonna ensure that they're safe, especially if you have someone who is acutely sick, not in a good headspace.”
